The Physical Environment Monitoring Rounds ensure that each regulated healthcare space is visited at least twice a year over the course of the year. The rounds are intended as an overview of compliance for each unit at JHH, JHSS and at SOM Regulated Spaces. EMR’s provide compliance surveillance to determine whether standards are being followed and are based on CDC Guidelines, JHHS Policies, Joint Commission Requirements

OSHA/MOSH Requirements, State and Local Health Department Guidelines. EMRs are a spot check of compliance, they are not an audit of every room in a given unit or clinic support area. It remains the responsibility of all healthcare personnel to follow federal, state, and other applicable regulations, as well as Johns Hopkins policies throughout the year.

When the results of the Surveys are provided to the supervisor, it is up to the supervisors to initiate a search other areas of that unit (which were in use at the time of the survey) to be sure the same condition(s) does not exist in additional areas of that unit. Rounding findings will be sent to Unit Manager or Supervisor immediately following the tour via email via Soleran PE Tours. If the manager or supervisor does not respond to the findings in 30 days the findings will be escalated to the manger or supervisors superior.
